John Pogmore takes us back to Chesterfield where we started our search for the Leachman line. His parents were married at the Crooked Spire and he was baptised at Sutton cum Duckmanton on the outskirts of the town. I have not found records of any other children of Thomas and Anne, either in Chesterfield or at Mansfield Woodhouse, where John married and settled down.
His wife Frances (nee Webster) was a native of Mansfield Woodhouse, which is about 15 km from Sutton cum Duckmanton, and her family were living near by. John was a master craftsman, a wheelwright, and he had apprentices living in his home as well as his seven children. Our ancestor Elizabeth was the eldest girl and no doubt took charge of this flock!
John left an estate worth £200 in his will: about £173,200.00 in 2019 values according to that excellent website Measuring Worth.
